The Coop Home Goods Eden Cool+ Adjustable Pillow with Cut-Out design comes with bold promises: customizable support, contouring comfort, and a refreshing sleep experience for side sleepers. With a reputation for innovation and strong user loyalty, Coop has carved out a niche in the adjustable pillow category. Naturally, we were eager to test this upgraded model, especially with the new shoulder cut-out, which claims to improve neck alignment for side sleepers.
We tested this pillow in real-world sleep environments over multiple nights, rotating between side, back, and combination sleepers of different builds. Here’s what we found.
First Impressions & Materials
Right out of the box, the Eden Cool+ gives off a premium feel. The packaging is neat, the pillow fluffs up quickly, and the outer fabric feels cool and soft. Coop includes extra fill for personalization—something the brand is known for—and a removable cover that’s washable and OEKO-TEX certified. So far, so good.
The filling itself is a gel-infused memory foam and microfiber blend—engineered to provide the moldability of shredded foam while remaining breathable. The cut-out shape, designed for shoulder clearance, is a key difference from the original Eden model. On paper, this small contour should help reduce pressure for side sleepers
Adjustability vs. Practical Comfort
We appreciated the thought behind including additional fill and the ability to unzip the inner pouch to remove or add more material. However, this customization can become a bit of a chore. Finding the perfect balance takes time and several nights of trial and error.
More importantly, the pillow doesn’t maintain its shape well overnight. Several testers noted that the fill tended to bunch or shift, particularly toward the edges, leaving the head and neck unevenly supported. Even after finding the “right” fill amount, the structure would break down under weight, requiring daily refluffing. For a pillow in this price range, that’s a frustrating experience.
The moving foam also removed the support the pillow is supposed to provde to the neck and therefore did little to help neck pain.

The Shoulder Cut-Out: Nice Idea, Awkward Execution
The side-sleeper shoulder notch is a standout feature—but not always for the right reasons. While it helps reduce the pressure from the mattress edge for some, it’s not deep or structured enough to make a consistent difference. In fact, the contour felt too subtle for broader-shouldered sleepers and too oddly placed for those with smaller frames.
Additionally, combination sleepers found themselves sliding away from the cut-out unintentionally, disrupting the alignment the pillow tries to provide. If you’re a very still sleeper, the cut-out might serve you better—but for anyone who shifts during the night, its utility becomes questionable.
Cooling Claims vs. Real Heat Performance
Coop heavily markets the Eden Cool+ as a pillow for hot sleepers. While the cover does feel initially cool to the touch, the pillow heats up noticeably during extended use. The shredded foam blend lacks the ventilation channels or cooling gel layers seen in more specialized cooling pillows. Several of our testers found themselves flipping the pillow during the night to escape trapped heat.
If you’re a mildly warm sleeper, the cooling might be enough. But if you’re particularly heat-sensitive or sleep in a warm environment, the Eden Cool+ likely won’t deliver the cooling performance it advertises.
Odor and Off-Gassing
One of the more disappointing aspects of the pillow was the strong chemical odor upon unboxing. While it’s not uncommon for memory foam products to have a smell at first, this one lingered much longer than expected—up to a week in some cases, even after airing out the pillow. This may not be a dealbreaker for everyone, but it’s worth noting for anyone sensitive to synthetic smells.
Who It’s Really For
Despite its flaws, the Coop Eden Cool+ may still be suitable for certain sleepers. If you’re patient enough to experiment with the fill, sleep in a relatively cool environment, and stay still through the night, you might find a decent setup with this pillow. The materials are undeniably high quality, and the brand’s customer service is well-regarded if you run into problems.
But for sleepers seeking a ready-to-use, structurally consistent, pressure-relieving pillow for side sleeping—the Eden Cool+ just doesn’t offer the stability or ergonomic benefit to justify its premium positioning.
